For CarterMatt this is going to be a very different show. After everything that Negan has done to Carl's family, the murder, the threats and mental torture, Carl doesn't see him imprisoned in a cell but gardening and acting friendly with Judith.

The biggest cliffhanger was seeing Rick bleeding out while leaning up against a tree full of hanging stained glass. He wonders what Carl meant with his dying plea, did he really want Rick to surrender to Negan? Michonne said that Rick should read the letters Carl wrote to them, including one that he wrote to Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), but Rick refused. If Carl died as the only character looking at the bigger picture and then Rick who's trying to pick up the torch also dies, then what's the point of this show? It was pretty much burned to the ground and everyone has packed up shop and left for the Hilltop. Unfortunately they are not seeing eye to eye on what the next move is.

Most in need of explanation: Rick's seen the helicopter, and Simon knows about the pad and some solar panels. Simon's suggests that they wipe them out and cast the net further out to grab other communities and use them as resources.

After the Scavengers attacked the Saviors in the mid-season finale of this season, Negan ordered Simon (Steven Ogg) to go warn them to stay in line. But what I hate most of all is that in the end after Carl kills himself, we learn the flash forwards were Carl's vision of the future and Negan is there. The Scavengers were the subject of Simon's slaughter disobeying Negan. Carl has always been a beacon of hope, a symbol for the remaining thread of humanity - lessons that the survivors around him would be wise to take with them as this war surges onward. Jadis apologizes as the saviors collect their weapons.

This moves Rick, who called up Negan on the walkie talkie. There was good work from Pollyanna McIntosh as Jadis here, especially in her devastation, and the scene of her feeding her former fellows - now a group of hungry walkers - into the waste disposal unit was effectively tragic. They turn around to see a sea of walkers coming.

"You are", Rick replies. This was such a huge disappointment. I ju.s what you wanted. He pulls over and leafs through the letters that Carl wrote before he died.

'Dreamer' immigrants face uncertain future as deadline passes
The March 5 deadline now has less urgency after the Supreme Court allowed rulings on the program to head into appeals. The program provided work permits and two-year reprieves from deportation that could be renewed.

Carl's death is already having a ripple effect across characters, with Michonne showing concern Rick won't fulfil his son's utopian wishes while Negan looks to have greater sympathies to the damage of death and loss. Instead of flashbacks with Rick and Michonne remembering happier times with Carl, the last image of an episode that was supposed to be a farewell to Carl the last image we see of Negan's stupid smirk...if this ain't some bull....

In the meantime, Rick used a stolen walkie-talkie to dial up Negan and deliver the sad news about Carl.

But the most interesting revelation were the glimpses into the future that we've been seeing all season long - they weren't time jumps, nor were they Rick's euphoric thoughts of his own future. Meanwhile, the Saviors' leader runs into some trouble with his right hand man. Here's a hint it's going to heavily involve Norman Reedus! It seems to be all out war for the characters as they prepare to face off once again.

"They gave me a piece of paper, it just said Enid on the back and it was a blank piece of paper".

In a way, yes Rick did lose because he lost his son. We didn't come home. But this is Simon we're talking about, so when Jadis is insufficiently contrite, he shoots her number two, then her number three, and when she strikes him in anger, he has his men massacre all her people.

What did you think of The Walking Dead season 8 episode 10? With Carl being killed off the show, we now know that anyone from here on out could be on the chopping block. Leave us a comment in the box below with your thoughts.
