Florida Gov. Rick Scott announces his candidacy for US Senate

Rick Scott to announce Senate run at 10 am Monday Gov. Scott plans 'major announcement' Monday

It had previously ranked only four Senate races featuring Democratic incumbents as toss-up races, with all four in states that President Donald Trump won by at least 19 percentage points.

Scott, a Republican, formally kicked off his campaign for U.S. Senate at the headquarters of an Orlando-based construction company.

"We have to all acknowledge that Washington is a disaster".

"I won't fit in in Washington either", Scott said.

"What I focused on when I got elected was getting 700,000 jobs over seven years and changing the direction of the state", Scott told POLITICO. He added, "We're not going to see a change in Washington if we don't have term limits".

Scott formally announced his Senate bid on Monday in Orlando after months of speculation that the governor would run. Scott's "Let's Get to Work" mantra, used in two gubernatorial campaigns, will transfer to this race. Scott asked. "This state had lost over 800,000 jobs in four years. He came to where the people are".

Scott, a multi-millionaire businessman, has served in the governor's mansion since 2011, and is leaving office due to term limits. He's been viewed as the only Republican with a chance of seriously challenging Nelson.

Trump, in other words, could be a liability in Florida more than in other states - and perhaps for no candidate as much as Scott.

The Mayweather bout last August was his last professional fight and McGregor and his girlfriend also had a son a year ago . On Thursday, White called the incident "the most disgusting thing that has ever happened in the history of this company".

Democrats also plan to fault Scott over his record while governor, including his push for deep budget cuts to education and his back-and-forth position on whether to expand Medicaid.

Beginning what is likely to be a costly, negative campaign, Gov. Rick Scott on Monday opened his challenge to U.S. Sen. "If you think that President Trump and Gov. Scott are playing election-year politics with drilling, you're right".

Scott has recently been in the national spotlight, amid hurricane recovery efforts and February's school shooting massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland.

He is expected to officially make a public announcement Monday afternoon.

But Scott's connection to Trump could become a flashpoint in the battleground state.

Attack ads began hitting the internet as soon as Scott made his announcement. He went on to defeat Democrat Alex Sink, who was Florida's chief financial officer, in the general election. Bill Nelson, the only statewide elected Democrat in Florida.

He then took aim at "career politicians", although he did not mention Nelson by name during his speech. "We shouldn't be sending the same kind of people to Washington". "He's going to have access to a lot of money in the campaign, so this is going to be definitely Senator Nelson's toughest campaigns", she said.
