The BJP has been vehemently protesting the recent "wasted" Parliament session, the most unproductive in 18 years, and blaming the opposition for it.

The Congress, on Tuesday, termed the fast undertaken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a "farce". "I appeal that you too collect people and hold fast in your constituencies and expose enemies of democracy and people who have been holding parliament to ransom", PM Modi said. Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said that considering his government's failures, it was time to retire.

The development word undertaken in Bihar under Nitish Kumar and Sushil Modi's leadership has boosted the morale of the people, the PM said. Several organizations working for the rights of Dalits organized a nationwide protest on 2 April.

"Madhepura electric locomotive factory is a prime example of Make in India and a source of employment in the region".

He added that the government is well acquainted with the way the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan has changed the lives of millions in the country.

The Prime Minister praised Nitish Kumar for working to turn Bihar open defacation free and for building a large number of toilets in a short time.

Of the achievements in sanitation, the Prime Minister mentioned that sanitation coverage has expanded from about 40 per cent in 2014 to about 80 percent today. He addressed a national convention of over 20,000 swachhagrahis (cleanliness volunteers) there. The train will run from Katihar to Old Delhi.

He unveiled a plaque to mark the foundation stone of Motijheel Project, the Bettiah Nagar Parishad Water Supply Scheme and four Ganga Projects. PM Modi is also fasting.

The fast was held by the Congress as a protest against the parliament washout, CBSE paper leaks and a special status for Andhra Pradesh. He also recalled that the State had "showed the way to the entire nation" on three occasions - the Champaran Satyagraha movement of Mahatma Gandhi, the Bhoodan movement of Acharya Vinoba Bhave and the valiant and successful fight against the Emergency, led by Jayaprakash Narayan.
