Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg emerged largely unscathed Wednesday from two days of high-stakes hearings that saw U.S. lawmakers grill the billionaire over how the online giant feeds users' data to advertisers and chide him over privacy rights.

However, in a series of questions on how people can remove data from Facebook, Zuckerberg said that Facebook does "collect data on people who are not signed up for Facebook for security purposes".

Wearing a dark suit and tie and prefacing nearly every remark with "Congressman" or "Congresswoman", Zuckerberg appeared even more controlled than he did on Tuesday, as he refrained from cracking jokes and flashed few smiles.

The Facebook CEO was grilled over what data Facebook collects, and his answers were often evasive and unsatisfying.

That makes up almost all of Zuckerberg's total net worth - good enough to make him the seventh richest person in the world, according to real-time data tracked by Forbes.

Zuckerberg is still unsure if there are more apps like Cambridge Analytica's tracking and recording user data, but said it would take months for a complete audit of apps that might be engaging in "improper gathering of data".

Facebook has now set up a page where any user can see if their information was shared with Cambridge Analytica.

Republican Senator Orin Hatch asked Zuckerberg at the hearing if Facebook will always be free. They indicate forwarding the message to a certain number of your friends in order not to pay for Facebook as the friends count number would indicate you are a frequent user.

Sputnik: Zuckerberg's talking about the fact that we shouldn't overregulate social media and other tech companies. Just yesterday, New York Times writer Brian Chen downloaded every piece of his personal data that the social network was storing.

Chicago Cubs home opener postponed due to rain
Leading the way in hitting for the Cubs coming into this week was Kris Bryant with 12 hits, six RBI, two homers and five runs. Javier Baez is starting to come around at the plate, driving in three runs with four walks in his last three games.

In a recent poll conducted by Recode, people were asked which company they trusted the least with their personal data. Ironically, shares hit an all-time high just before the Cambridge Analytica scandal hit, but they've been down 16 percent ever since.

Earlier, during the first five-hour marathon session at US Congress late on Tuesday, the Facebook CEO conveyed his concerns about the upcoming elections globally.

This censorship from a large liberal California company is bad for our democracy and it directly interferes with your ability to get the news you want.

But he said he tries to make sure Facebook does not have any bias in the work that it does.

Zuckerberg has apologised for his company's role in the data scandal saying: "We didn't take a broad enough view of our responsibility, and that was a big mistake". He had no response when asked how a non-Facebook member could remove information without signing up for the service. Loebsack asked whether it would be possible for Facebook to exist if it did not package user data into profiles for advertisers.

So if these people didn't want to use Facebook what are they going to use?

- Do not click on the like button anytime you see it on a random page.

"The rest of it you have no control over it and that's actually the part that is most likely to be damaging".
