The Eagles cornerback was tased and arrested in Philadelphia early Sunday morning after a dispute with authorities, NFL Insider Ian Rapoport reported.

The Eagles announced hours later that they had released Worley.

Rapoport reported that the Eagles issued a statement that said the team is "gathering more information" about his arrest.

The Eagles acquired Worley last month from the Panthers in exchange for wide receiver Torrey Smith. He's been released as of this evening.

The more alarming detail is not that the security patches had been missed, but rather the number of times that the patches weren't applied.

Even better, Worley was returning home to Philly, where his parents still live in their same North Philadelphia neighborhood where he grew up. Now he's already gone. "The source said team officials are discussing the situation, and that Worley very well might be released".

Worley likely to be cut?

It's entirely possible the Eagles opt to draft a cornerback with the No. 32 pick in the first round. The Eagles need depth at safety. Jaylen Watkins signed with the Chargers, and Corey Graham isn't expected to return.

Police responded to a 911 call, and Worley allegedly resisted arrest before a taser was administered to the 23-year-old. The third-year corner has 152 total tackles, 19 passes defensed, and three interceptions since 2016.
