Previously Samsung was found guilty of infringing three design patents. especially the front and rear look of the original iPhone's body.

The multibillion-dollar legal war between Apple and Samsung over patents has crossed a certain limit on this Monday! An MIT professor, John Hauser, conducted a form of trade-off analysis to determine the value of individual features to customers.

Had Apple not released the iPhone, it anxious that mobile carriers could easily make the iPod obsolete by adding music to their phones, which served as a "gigantic threat" to the company and its mainstay media player.

Apple asserts that its the entire phone, while Samsung says the definition could be restricted to components. Vellturo cited the fact once people enter a particular ecosystem they tend to stick with it for future purchases. But the sum of damages Samsung must pay is yet to be agreed. He added: 'That had a dramatic effect on Apple, and the compensation is therefore substantial'. The dispute at hand concerns just how much money Samsung has to hand over to Apple.

But senior director of design at Apple Richard Howarth argues Samsung "blatantly ripped off" the iPhone's design with its early Galaxy phones.

Apple's lawyer Bill Lee has said that Samsung made a profit of around $1 billion by violating the company's design patents which Samsung is of the view that it should only be made to pay the amount it made by violating the specific patents and not the entire profits of the devices through which these patents were infringed. Those testimonies brought some insight into the iPhone design process and more.

If Samsung's profit from the infringing phones is calculated by component rather than the product as whole, Quinn said the company would pay the much lower price of $28,085,061.

Samsung lost the case in 2012.

The American tech giant's lawyer argued in court that though the design aspects in question only address the iPhone at a cosmetic level, they are still key features of the Apple brand.

The Motorola foldable smartphone, which folds out into a tablet, appeared in a patent filed to WIPO. After Samsung agreed that it will pay some of the damages, Apply made a decision to move the case to the U.S. Supreme Court in 2016. Samsung has already shelled out $548 million, but it's the other $399 million that's being fought over. This verdict has resulted that Samsung needs to give $930 million to Apple.
