Last week, Kim Kardashian paid a visit to the White House where she met with President Donald Trump in a meeting about prison reform & sentencing, which Trump said "went great". Johnson, 63, was serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole after being convicted of a first-time nonviolent drug offense.

"I just got off the most wonderful, emotional, and awesome phone call with Alice, Kim, and Alice's lawyers", Kardashian West's attorney Shawn Holley told Business Insider in a statement.

It also said that she has accepted responsibility for her behavior and has been a model prisoner.

Johnson will be released from the Aliceville Correctional Facility in Alabama, the aforementioned article states, where she's spent the last 21 years behind bars on charges of conspiracy to possess cocaine, attempted possession of cocaine and money laundering.

After having her sentence commuted by President Trump, she was freed Wednesday after nearly 22 years in a federal prison.

"When Kim told me that I was being released, I started jumping up and screaming and crying and everyone else was crying", Johnson recalled.

Johnson, who recently celebrating her 63rd birthday, is expected to be released soon.

The president pardoned Johnson a week after meeting with Kardashian West in the Oval Office to discuss the case.

Johnson is one of several people to be granted high-profile acts of clemency by President Trump in recent months.

Johnson had served more than 20 years in prison. "She told me that she knew that this was meant to be", Johnson said.

"I want to say to President Trump, I am going to make you proud that you gave me this second chance in life".

"It is an wonderful feeling", Johnson told Baldwin of no longer being behind bars.

"I'm feeling no handcuffs on me".

"BEST NEWS EVER!" Kim rejoiced on Twitter.

"Never in my wildest dreams did I think Kim Kardashian would take my cause on", Johnson said. Though Johnson said she feels she overpaid her debt for the crime that she committed, she refuses to focus on the past.

"I just knew him from "The Apprentice" and other things and he was amusing to me", Johnson said.
