In a plot that could have come out of a heist movie, two men on Tuesday raided a Swedish cathedral and stole a set of 17th-century crown jewels, before fleeing the crime scene on a speedboat, according to police and Swedish news outlets.

Police believe that the perpetrators might have abandoned the motorboat, transferred to a vehicle, and are either going west, or east towards the capital Stockholm.

Two men were seen to jump into a motor boat moored just below the church.

The thieves have not yet been captured. "We have some different information about how exactly the boat looked", Thomas explained.

The crowns were originally buried with King Charles IX in 1611, and later his wife Queen Christina, as their burial crowns.

After criticism, Trump delays second Putin meeting to next year
Since Trump's meeting with Putin, there have been a lot of questions about what the two world leaders said to each other. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) said at the hearing. "The President. will be their toughest enemy, most hard enemy", he said.

"We contacted the police and told them and they told us that something had been taken from the cathedral", he said.

"I knew immediately that they were burglars because of the way they were behaving". But all those displays, in addition to catching the eyes of thousands of visitors, seem to also have caught the attention of a number of thieves. I hope the police succeed in finding them'.

Parts of the Swedish Royal Regalia have been swiped from Strängnäs Cathedral in Sweden where they were on display.

"We are on land, in the water and in the air", a police spokesman said.

The stolen items are "impossible to sell" due to their uniqueness and high visibility, Maria Ellior of the Swedish police's National Operations Department told the Swedish news agency TT.

"It's despicable that people would steal from a holy building", he said.
