Special counsel Robert Mueller will accept written answers from President Donald Trump on questions about whether his campaign colluded with Russian Federation to beat his Democratic opponent, The New York Times reported Tuesday.

The Trump legal team view is that Mueller would be less likely to succeed in subpoenaing over issues of obstruction given executive privilege issues, for example, when it comes to the President's discussions with Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein about the firing of Comey, according to another source.

Rudy Giuliani says the White House would likely attempt to block a full public release of Robert Mueller's anticipated final report about the Russian Federation investigation ― bolstering long-held fears that the special counsel's ultimate findings may never see the light of day.

Mueller did not rule out interviewing the president as part of his wide-ranging inquiry.

Trump's personal attorneys, Rudy Giuliani and Jay Sekulow, declined to comment.

The Trump legal team's position has been that any sit-down interview has to be limited to matters before Trump became President, and for questions related to possible obstruction and other post-inauguration matters to be done in writing. "Kavanaugh actually has a long résumé", including a decade as a federal judge and years as a lawyer in the George W. Bush White House", Trevor Noah said on Tuesday's Daily Show.

'So that's four things, that's four, then you have the conflicts of the people - you know I call them the 17 angry Democrats, I guess they're being lowered down now, ' Trump said, referencing staff that transferred out of Mueller's office.

In the book, Woodward describes a mock interview Trump did with his legal team, in which they hoped to prove to the President that he shouldn't sit down with Mueller's team for an interview.

President Donald Trump took his unverified claim that Robert Mueller and James Comey are "best friends" to a new level in an interview - saying the men are so chummy he has photos of them 'hugging and kissing'. Trump's team has not yet responded to the offer.

Contrary to his lawyer's efforts, Trump has continued to insist to them and to aides that he wants to be questioned by Mueller. Trump has said he knew nothing about the meeting before it happened.

The most important discrepancy relates to a meeting he had with Comey.
