San Juan Mayor: 'God Bless' Potential Hurricane Florence Victims

Photos Reveal Massive Stockpile of Water Left on Tarmac in Puerto Rico for Nearly a Year While Hurricane Maria Victims Suffered Trump calls Puerto Rico hurricane response 'an unsung success,’ despite thousands of deaths

Almost 3,000 people died in Puerto Rico because of the storm. As time went by it did not go up by much. Trump called the count a move by Democrats to make him look bad.

The researchers pointed to several problems in the death-certification process that contributed to the island government's initial undercounting of fatalities.

In a second tweet Thursday, Trump cast blame on Democrats, who he said are trying to make him look bad.

"What may be millions of water bottles. meant for victims of Hurricane Maria, have been sitting on a runway in Ceiba, Puerto Rico, since a year ago, according to @FEMA, which confirmed the news to me", Begnaud wrote.

President Trump listens as FEMA Administrator Brock Long, center, talks about Hurricane Florence in the Oval Office of the White House on Tuesday with Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, right.

"The inadequate preparedness and personnel training for crisis and emergency risk communication, combined with numerous barriers to accurate, timely information and factors that increased rumor generation, ultimately decreased the perceived transparency and credibility of the Government of Puerto Rico", the study read.

The General Services Administration in Puerto Rico (GSA) says it requested FEMA's inventory of excess water through a federal program on April 17 and was given approval to use the supplies on April 26.

A mandatory evacuation was ordered for residents of Hatteras Island and some other areas of Dare County in North Carolina . SCEMD has also put their preparedness level at OPCON 2, the second-highest level for the state of emergencies in SC .

A photographer claimed to have discovered a stockpile of bottled water sitting on a tarmac in Puerto Rico. An outraged CNN contributor noted that some Maria victims died because they couldn't get to hospitals "because the roads were closed".

It sounds like, from the language used, that Trump believes fewer than 100 people died in Hurricane Maria.

The president has consistently applauded the Maria response, even as the estimates of deaths in Puerto Rico caused by the storm have climbed from 64 to 2,975 people, making it the deadliest hurricane to hit America in more than a century.

Ahead of this weekend's incoming hurricane that's hitting the East Coast, President Trump tried to reassure the people earlier this week by stating some bold lies about the relief efforts they provided for the last hurricane in Puerto Rico, Hurricane Maria.

"The water was kept in an area that was pretty hard hit during the storm, and could have used all the water they could have gotten", Begnaud explained in a video he posted to Twitter.

Trump's response to Puerto Rico has been broadly criticized.

San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz tweeted to the president on Thursday: "Shame on you", including a picture of his tweet.
