Dems go after Trump for disputing PR death toll

Massive stockpile of bottled water found in Puerto Rico a year after Maria Trump disputes Hurricane Maria death toll in Puerto Rico

President Donald Trump is rejecting the widely accepted death toll in Puerto Rico from Hurricane Maria, claiming without citing evidence that "3,000 people did not die". "Then, a long time later, they started to report really large numbers, like 3000", Trump wrote on Twitter.

President Donald Trump's earlier remarks challenging one report's estimate on Puerto Rico deaths from Hurricane Maria were taken to task by the Late Show's Stephen Colbert and the Daily Show's Trevor Noah.

In a latest fit of fury, Trump successfully enraged millions of Americans by claiming the nearly 3,000 deaths in Puerto Rico after the devastation caused by two back-to-back hurricanes were fake news.

Trump cited no evidence for his tweet rejecting the widely accepted death toll of almost 3,000 in Puerto Rico because of Maria. One thing's for sure, and I told (the media) before, one thing I'm proud, we're standing up on our own two feet.

Hostin blamed the Jones Act, saying it allowed the US government to "pillage and rape" the island since its inception in 1920, before asking why Trump didn't have an equal reaction to Maria as President Obama did to Haiti, which isn't even a USA territory.

He also said the Democrats were "trying to make [him] look bad" by reporting the high numbers of deaths.

The president ignited controversy when he tweeted that the approximate 3,000 death toll was inflated by Democrats.

Mallya's lawyer told Westminster Magistrates Court in London , " IDBI bank officials were well aware of losses at Kingfisher ". In this case, Mallya being a Rajya Sabha member should have sought leave of absence from the House before leaving.

Are these the worst tweets to have ever been tweeted by Trump... so far? While Cora acknowledged the government helped Puerto Rico, he questioned whether it did enough.

Carmen Yulin Cruz, mayor of San Juan, Puerto Rico, shot back on Twitter, calling Trump's "lack of respect"appalling". But even some Republicans-especially those in Florida-are among those disagreeing with the president's assertion about the estimate from researchers at George Washington University.

Trump on Thursday tweeted "3,000 people did not die" in Puerto Rico and called the death count a move by Democrats to make him look bad.

Ahead of Florence striking the USA east coast, Mr Trump spoke with political leaders in the Carolinas and offered "whatever is needed", Sarah Sanders, the White House spokesman, said. Those were not needed during the response phase and were not distributed by the governor of Puerto Rico or FEMA for that reason'. While Puerto Ricans were still dying as a result of the hurricane - due to shortages of electricity and medical care - Trump informed the island's inhabitants that they should be grateful that his efforts had spared them from suffering a "real catastrophe like Katrina".

"Trump is so vain he thinks this is about him".

There is no indication Trump raised "billions" to help rebuild the island and the government's Federal Emergency Management Agency (Fema) has said its response was strained after responding to two other major hurricanes weeks before Maria. Brock on Thursday said that "if we made mistakes with the way a program was run, then we'll work.to get this corrected".
