Verizon's 5G Home internet and TV service launches October 1st

Verizon 5G Markets Verizon's 5G Home internet and TV service launches October 1st

Verizon 5G Home will be available in parts of Houston, Indianapolis, Los Angeles and Sacramento beginning on October 1, and customers can sign up starting on Thursday morning, Verizon announced yesterday. And the results are uninspiring, to say the least.

Engadget has the details on Verizon's plans.

Verizon 5G Home service offers 300 Mbps+ internet service with no data restriction.

Verizon said it will expand its coverage area for Verizon 5G Home once it can install the new standards-compliant equipment from vendors.

Verizon is also adding up to the deal by providing a couple of freebies for the customers.

In May, Verizon's then-CEO Lowell McAdam said that the company would begin rolling out its 5G network by the end of 2018.

European Union punishes Hungary with unprecedented action
No to sanctions and to trials of freely elected governments", read the post by Salvini, who is also Italy's Deputy Prime Minister. Szijjarto said Hungary was considering legal options to appeal the result because of the way the vote was tallied.

But that's not the speed that Verizon is now promising. The company says users should expect speeds of "around 300 Mbps and, depending on location, peak speeds of almost 1 Gig, with no data caps".

5G promises peak speeds of 1 Gbps.

The website will also give an opportunity to preorder for interested 5G customers in those four cities. On Monday, AT&T Inc. said it plans to offer 5G service in Texas (Houston, San Antonio, Dallas and Waco); Jacksonville, Fla.; Louisville, Ky., New Orleans, La.; Atlanta; Charlotte, N.C.; Indianapolis; Oklahoma City; and Raleigh, N.C. sometime this year.

With that in mind, the announcement by Verizon still remains an important one. The service is still commercially unproven, but companies are expected to spend as much as $200 billion a year to develop the technology. But we'll also need compatible smartphones, which we've already seen surface in the form of the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 and the Moto Z3 5G mod. The 5G name, performed in Minneapolis, Minnesota - where Verizon has a cosmopolitan mobile network - passe 39GHz millimetre-wave (mmWave) spectrum, an Ericsson mmWave radio and non-standalone Chance 3x core, and a Qualcomm test instrument with a Snapdragon X50 5G modem and RF subsystem.

So that's a first for 5G home internet, but carriers are still racing to be the first to introduce mobile 5G service. So how exactly is this leading position paying off, considering it's apparently going to require another truck roll? Verizon did not reveal the timeframe to launch 5G mobile service. One fixed wireless provider told me that they're essentially guaranteed 20% of the market simply because they're not one of the wired incumbents.

Verizon has elaborated previously over bringing their 5G as soon as possible, with all the chances to happen in this fall. However, it now appears that a launch date is just around the corner for Verizon.
